For this assignment, I partnered up with Laissa and we did a story on the debate between the young republicans and young democrats. This made for a fun story because you heard the topics they were arguing about, you saw how it got heated sometimes, but how at the end of the day everyone did just fine. This is also a really fun news package because I'm pretty sure that there's a whole lot of people in this school who've never seen a debate in our school, so I'm glad that they'll see ours first.

I don't remember what this certain blog post was about, but based off of the title I'm guessing its about average people and their stories. On CBS there's a news show that Mr. Goble told us about called On The Road with Steve Hartman. He would go around to random people and interview them until they get a news story. This is incredible because almost everybody's stories are amazing and sometimes emotional. This concept really shows that everyone does have a story.
The assignment was to interview an expert, but Mr. Goble decided to interview me as an example for the class. I used the interview because I talked quite a lot. I learned that going off script sometimes is quite necessary to bring more of the story out of a person. For example we went from how I almost missed the bus in the morning, to senioritis, to the story of my parents and how they met, and the history of Ethiopia. Since I ended up using my own interview it was kind of weird editing myself plus, there was so much footage.
I never did do the six word story video but my idea for the story was "His Texts Stopped Making Me Smile". I planned to tell a story through these words about a boy who stopped making me happy and you can see that through the texts. I could see though as we were viewing other students stories that almost everyone did a depressing story.
The assignment was to create a video based on six words. So essentially to make a six word story come to life. First we saw example of a six word story and how other kids put them together, then we looked up six word stories online to make our own. A lot of the stories I did see were very depressing, its like a trend. But the ones the kids in our class made up were happy or funny.
A couple of weeks ago, Mr. Goble gave us a list of things and places to shoot and whether to shoot wide, medium, or tight. We went all over the school, and even outside. Some people we went to, like the campus officer, already had been asked to do the same thing many times to shoot the same thing. He was pretty cool about it though. We're gonna take all 10 shots, all at least 10 seconds long, then we're gonna upload them to Final Cut Pro X. This is cool because I've always wanted to use this editing program because it has so many more features than iMovie does. More effects, more transitions, and more of a bg music selection. To be honest Final Cut is the only reason i took this class because I've been wondering whether or not $300 is worth it to get it on my personal laptop. But then again the price was $1000 so I guess It's cheap right now. So after messing around a little bit on Final Cut I'm going to decide if I should buy it.Last week Mr. Goble asked us to create a sort of trailer of our lives. We called this video iAm(enter name). It was a basic 50-60 second video with pictures of things that describe us. They could be family events, us doing things we enjoy, or pictures of objects we enjoy. I'd like to improve on my editing skills. I've only used iMovie, but I do know we're going to use other programs.
